Originally by: J'J'J'Jita Sunday afternoon, and once again I am unable to login to Jita because it is traffic controlled. While my tradeskills are sufficiently high that I can do most things from one system over, it's ridiculous that I can't login to my namesake.
Why the hardcap? Jita was fine in Dominion, and wasn't Tyrannis supposed to solve some lag issues? You had weeks and weeks of "mass-testing" and even delayed the release of Tyrannis to "refactor code". Further, the client feels more responsive in Tyrannis -- I can see improvements.
It's also frustrating that a large percent of the Jita population are simply scam botters that sit there all day and spam local with whatever the flavor du jour of contract or trade scam may be. Why doesn't CCP have GMs monitoring the system, removing people from Jita who are most likely afk and not actually doing anything in-system other than spamming local anyway. In fact, the way CCP handles the Jita traffic cap encourages behaviour such that the next time I can get into jita, I just idle there afk with the client minimized so that I can stay there.
In short, CCP's handling of the system is terrible, and like most other terrible aspects of Eve, unlikely to change for the better anytime soon.
So you're saying you have the right to be in jita, just because its your 'namesake', but i dont have the right to be in jita and idle while i watch AT8? What if i call my character "Jita AFKer" am i allowed to then idle in jita since its my namesake also?
Also, about the mass testing, nobody shows up for them. CCP advertizes them and really, really tries to get people to come, but nobody shows up. CCP specificly asks the major 0.0 alliances to come and playtest, and they fail to show up. And then the next day you see a post like this, from some 0.0 alliance member complaining that the lag still isnt fixed, even though they never bothered to show up and help CCP test it.
Jita is closed off at 1400 people, im sure its a better idea then letting the node crash at 2000 people.
